The 4th installment of the famous Step up series came along and boy what a movie it was. I must say i thought it was going to suck but i really really enjoyed it, Story was ok, kinda lame and extremely cheesy, but hey who can blame the directors? Creating a dance movie with a story that isn't Cliche is very tough, unless maybe if it was about a Ninja who didn't want to be a Ninja but a dancer instead, something like that i don't know. Called Step up Revolution or Step up 4: Miami heat, which makes it sound epic and all.
Anyways the story is about a group of Street dancers(Soo original) called The Mob who want to be heard, like literally want to be heard. So they go about performing dance stunts in just about any place in order to gain 1million hits on Youtube (But i thought all they wanted was to be heard?). So it's during this stunt fest that the story unfolds and crap, and as always there's a girl involved who somehow messes things up. Compared to other Step up movies i would say this one is my favourite, and when it comes to storylines, Step up 1 is by far the best. 3 had some great dance scenes but that's just about it, the story was the worst! And if you told me you enjoyed it's story i will have you arrested for Lameness. 2 was.. Just there, i honestly can't describe 2, but it's just there.. Somewhere. The acting was alright, decent i guess, Ryan Guzman did fairly well in his 1st movie. Misha Hamilton is a great dancer, i haven't seen Center Stage so i was like whoa! Personally i think the chemistry between Kathryn McCormick and Ryan Guzman just wasn't there, it was hard to feel that spark you know?
The main parts i felt pulled this movie back was the whole Ballet side of the movie, It just kept appearing and disappearing, and i kept dozing off each time it came. The dancing is mainly what made this movie to be honest, because if it wasn't for it, this film would totally suck! But it didn't soooo cool.
That's how i feel about it and if you don't like it well then, go.
My rating 6.8/10
4 for the dancing.
2 for Moose.
0.8 for the Story.
